What is the Eco-Reduction scheme?

The Eco-Reduction scheme is a scheme that aims to lower the tariffs of electricity bills for households that ensure to avoid excessive electrical consumption. According to Enemalta, for an individual to be granted the Eco-Reduction scheme related discount on their primary residence, they need to ensure that they do not go over the stipulated consumption of units per year. The reduction is not applicable for:

  • Single person households if they go over 2,000 units consumed in one year. Those who do not skip over 2,000 units (per year), get a 25% discount on the price of all their consumption.
  • Two or more person households if they exceed 1,750 units per person per year. Those who do not skip over this threshold will receive a 25% discount on the first 1,000 units and 15% on the remaining 750 units per person.
